Gear oil is a lubricant made specifically for transmissions, transfer cases, and differentials in automobiles, trucks, and other machinery. 

 

It has high viscosity and usually contains organosulfur compounds.

Vehicle gear oil viscosity grade model

 

It is divided into seven viscosity grades of 70W, 75W, 80W, 85W, 90, 140 and 250 according to (SAE).

 

 The "W" mark is the winter type gear oil, and the others are non-winter oil. The number represents the viscosity of the gear oil at 100 ° C, the smaller the number, the lower the viscosity and the better the low temperature performance.

 

Gear oil is mainly classified 

* Mineral oil gear oil: such as the common GL-4 80W-90 mineral oil gear oil, suitable for manual transmission and rear axle of vehicles under normal working conditions.

*Synthetic oil type gear oil: like SHC series, suitable for extreme temperature and high load working environment.

* Vehicle gear oil: used for transmission, rear axle and other gear transmission devices of cars, trucks and other vehicles. Such as GL-5 75W-140
